Package prices reflect savings over purchasing items individually. We will mail your customized stamp and other supplies within 5 business days after we receive proof of your notary commission. All Notary Express supplies come with a notary term guarantee.


Submit Application to Notary Express


After completing your notary application in our online system, please do the following:

 

  • Print the completed notary application or choose to have the documents mailed to you
  • Apply your signature and make sure it is witnessed and notarized by another Illinois notary
  • Include a copy of your drivers license or state ID with your application
  • Mail your application to Notary Express

Next, we will error check and review your application for accuracy, issue your notary bond and file your application with the Secretary of State.

 

Once you are approved as a notary public, we will ship your stamp and supplies to you upon receiving a copy of your commission certificate.  Please do not send the original.  

 

To avoid delays, please email or fax a copy of your commission certificate to us when you receive it.

The state may require additional time to complete processing. During peak renewal times, processing time may take even longer when applying by mail.

 

Steps to apply by mail

  • Print and fill out the Illinois notary application

  • Choose a notary package and include a check with your order

  • Mail us your completed application, order form, and payment

  • After you are approved as a notary public and send us a copy of your commission certificate, we will ship your supplies within 5 business days


Notary Public Qualifications


To become or renew as an Illinois Notary Public, you must:

Illinois Residents

  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

  • Be an Illinois resident for 30 days

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Be able to read and write the English language

  • Have not been convicted of a felony

  • Have not had a previous Notary commission revoked

  • Education & exam for new and renewing notaries

  • Paper or electronic record journal

Non-Illinois Residents

  • Must satisfy the same qualifications as Illinois residents

  • Must submit a Non-Resident Notary Public application form and follow the same notary application process and procedures as Illinois residents

  • Must be a resident of a state bordering Illinois whose place of work or business is within a county in Illinois (Qualifying bordering states include Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and Wisconsin)

  • Out-of-state residents will be commissioned in the county in which they are employed or maintain a business in Illinois
